🐻 “I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” — A Bear’s Reflection

🐻 “I Am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” — A Bear’s Reflection

Now listen, friend—have you ever really looked at a bear? I mean, really looked? I’m a walking marvel, stitched together by the Almighty with paws that can crush logs and yet cradle a newborn cub. My nose? It’s a miracle sniffer. I can smell berries ripening from half a mile away, and I once tracked a honey trail so long it felt like a pilgrimage. My brain? Sharp as a pine needle. I remember every berry patch, every fishy bend in the brook, and every two-legger who’s ever tried to take a selfie with me. (Spoiler: bad idea.)

I’ve got strength, speed, and a coat that shrugs off rain like it’s nothing. And don’t get me started on my hibernation skills—six months of sleep without an alarm clock? That’s divine engineering.

Sometimes I sit by the brook and think, “Wow, Lord. You really outdid Yourself.” And then I catch a fish mid-leap and think it again.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”Psalm 139:14

Through the Eyes—and Snout—of a Bear

Through the Eyes—and Snout—of a Bear

Well now, let me tell ya 'bout my neck of the woods. I'm nestled deep in the forest, where the air’s thick with pine and damp earth—like nature’s cologne, if you’re into that sort of thing. The moss beneath my paws is cool and springy, like walking on grandma’s couch cushions (don’t ask how I know that). And the trees? Tall guardians that sway and whisper like ancient storytellers, always gossiping about squirrels and the weather.

Sunlight sneaks through the canopy in golden stripes, painting the forest floor in patches of warmth. I like to stretch out in those sunny spots and pretend I’m a cinnamon roll baking to perfection. Sometimes a squirrel will drop a pinecone on my belly just to see if I flinch. I don’t. I’m a professional.

There’s a brook nearby, babbling like it’s got secrets to spill. I sit beside it often, scooping up fish when they zig instead of zag. One time, a trout slapped me right in the snout and swam off laughing. I respect that kind of sass. The wind carries scents from miles off—berries ripening, elk wandering, even the odd two-legger huffing through the trail in those squeaky boots. I once followed one just to see where he was going. Turns out he was lost. I gave him a helpful growl and he found his way real quick.

Birdsong fills the morning, and the owls keep watch at night. It’s quiet, mostly. But it’s the kind of quiet that’s alive, y’know? Everything has a rhythm—the rustle, the hum, the crunch of leaves under paw. My den’s carved into a hill, snug and dry, lined with leaves, fur, and one very confused raccoon who refuses to leave. Best place in the world to dream about honey and salmon. Or sometimes, just dream about floating on a log down the river wearing sunglasses and sipping birch sap. Don’t judge. A bear’s gotta have goal.

Sometimes, when I’m stretched out in my den, belly full of berries and dreams full of salmon, I get to thinkin’. Not just about snacks and naps—but about how wonderfully I’m made. I mean, paws that can dig, climb, and cradle? A nose that sniffs out supper from a mile away? A brain that remembers every trail, every scent, and every raccoon roommate who overstays his welcome? That’s no accident. That’s divine craftsmanship. The Lord didn’t just make me big and fuzzy—He made me clever, curious, and perfectly suited for this patch of paradise.

“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”Psalm 139:14 ,

πŸ“ Bear’s Summer Delight: A Morning Berry Feast

πŸ“ Bear’s Summer Delight:

A Morning Berry Feast

“Sun’s barely stretching over the horizon, but I’m already up. The forest’s breathing warm now—thick with scent and song. My fur’s slick from the morning mist, and the light picks up its golden tips as I saunter through dew-soaked underbrush.

Under my paws? Cushioned moss and soil, sprinkled with the tiniest blue blossoms. A slope nearby is dressed in dandelions and black-eyed Susans, waving like old friends. Butterflies dance lazy circles in the air. The hills wear green like royalty, velvet and vast, stitched with wildflower seams.

I sniff the wind—ah, there it is. The sweet pulse of berries. Raspberries tangled in thorny brambles, sun-warmed and bursting. I nudge in gently, careful not to get jabbed, and pluck a few with a flick of tongue. They pop like joy in my mouth—juicy, tart, wild. Further in, blackberries hang heavy, their sugar whispering of long days and buzzing bees.

The bees are everywhere—busy, golden workers humming over clover and bergamot. I let them be; we share this feast in peace. Down the hill, there’s a patch of milkweed and Queen Anne’s lace where fawns sometimes peek out at me, curious and quiet.

I roll in the tall grasses, brushing against goldenrod and yarrow. My body’s strong, broad and softened by the lazy rhythm of summer. Each breath tastes like sunshine and roots. I rest in the shade of an ancient maple, its leaves flickering stories above me, belly full and soul content.

This place? It’s not just where I live—it’s who I am. Wild. Blooming. Home.”

Genesis 8:22 (KJV) “While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.”

This verse reflects the rhythm of creation that the bear experiences—the sweetness of berries, the warmth of the sun, and the faithful cycle of seasons that brings life and provision.

Bear’s Autumn Tale

Bear’s Autumn Tale

Chasing Scents Through a Golden World

“Fall's rolled in like an old friend wrapped in a spicy breeze, and the forest’s dressed in its finest. My coat’s thick now—rich, brown, and warm, catching bursts of leaf-fire as I lumber along. Bits of maple and oak leaves cling to my fur, like nature's confetti saying, You made it through the summer, big fella.

The air snaps crisp against my snout. Scents are everywhere—apple, damp bark, mushrooms huddled in clusters, and something deep and woodsy that calls me higher into the hills. I walk slow at first, through blankets of rust-colored leaves, kicking up a crunch with every step. It’s music to my paws.

Goldenrod’s fading now, but asters still bloom, like stars sprinkled across the meadow. I find a patch of late-season berries, deep purple and sweet like honey. I eat with gusto—every bite a memory of warmer days, every mouthful a fuel for the colder ones ahead. A squirrel scolds me from a high branch, tail flicking, eyes bold. I grunt and move on, not in the mood for gossip.

I climb a ridge covered in tall grass, tipped with seed heads that sway like white doves in the wind. From the top, I see a mosaic of color—amber hills, red valleys, and the silver thread of a creek winding through it all like a soft lullaby.

I pause. My breath is visible, my muscles strong beneath this fur of seasons. The world is winding down, but it feels more alive than ever. A fox streaks past. Leaves tumble. The sun begins to rest.

And me? I chase one more scent before twilight settles. It leads to a clearing where the ground is warm, the wind is kind, and the stars are just beginning to wake.”

A bear heaven that's for sure if I do say so myself.

Psalm 104:24 (KJV) “O Lord, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.”

This verse echoes the bear’s awe as he roams through the golden hills, savoring berries and scents, and witnessing the abundance of the forest.

A Peaceful Night Starts Here - The Lantern Choir

A Peaceful Goodnight Starts Here

  1. Verse 1 (Bear) – “I once feared the shadows of night, till Jesus brought me light.”

  2. Verse 2 (Hooty) – “He gave me songs my heart could keep, and watches while I sleep.”

  3. Verse 3 (Carl) – “He walks beside me every day, and helps me learn His way.”

➡️ Chorus (all together)

“So I sing like Bear, pray like Hooty, Trust like Carl when skies look moody. His love is strong and ever near — My peaceful goodnight starts right here.”

Then simply repeat the song or fade out gently with a soft final chorus hummed, whispered, or spoken as a blessing.

Peaceful Goodnight

Verse 1 – Bear’s Whisper

I once feared the shadows of night,
Till Jesus brought His guiding light.
He came with love, so pure and true,
And made my heart completely new.

Verse 2 – Hooty’s Hymn

He gave me songs my soul could keep,
A melody to calm my sleep.
His Word shines bright, my heart it fills,
Like moonlight dancing on the hills.

Verse 3 – Carl’s Promise

He walks beside me every day,
Through forest trails and clouds of gray.
His truth remains, His mercy stays,
I praise Him through my woodland ways.

Choir: 🌟 Chorus –

He walks beside me night and day,
His Word is light to guide my way.
I rest in Him, no need to fear—
His love is strong, His peace is near.

You can repeat the entire structure once (for a 2-minute song), or softly echo just the chorus as a closing hum. For a sing-along version, each critter can “take the lead” on their verse — with expressive coloring pages showing Bear’s bedtime hug, Hooty’s moonlit perch, and Carl walking in faith with a lantern lit by scripture.

Peaceful Goodnight

Peaceful Goodnight

Verse 1:
When I believed, when I received,
Then Jesus came into my heart.
Not by the good that I have done,
But because God sent His only Son.

Verse 2:
Now I talk, and I walk in His way,
My heart thinks of Him every day.
I'll grow up loving Him always,
I'll sing with joy and give Him praise.

Verse 3:
Let’s praise Him, praise Him evermore,
In the morning light, at noon, at night.
When our trust is in Him, it’s right,
And we'll have a peaceful goodnight.

Chorus:
Peaceful goodnight, the stars shine above,
Wrapped in His mercy, His grace, and His love.
Safe in His care, no need for fright,
We rest in His arms through the quiet night.

Colossians 3:15
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts,
to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

Bear Tells Us About Carl

Bear Tells Us About Carl

🐻 "Well, let me tell ya about Carl. He's the kind of fella who walks through the woods with the confidence of someone who's never been chased by bees. Big voice, small sandwiches. I once saw him try to wrestle a sleeping bag into submission—it won.

Carl's got this face that's always smiling, like he's either planning something delightful or just remembered where he hid his snacks. He calls it ‘expressive.’ I call it ‘suspiciously cheerful.’ Oh, and his fashion sense? Think lumberjack meets confused meteorologist. Layers on layers. Guy wears more zippers than I’ve seen on a tent.

But y’know what? He’s got heart. Gave me half his granola once. Didn’t even flinch when I licked it first. A solid human, really. Weird, but solid."

Bear Tells Us About the Lumberjack

🐻 "Ah, the lumberjack. A walking contradiction wrapped in flannel. He stomps through my forest like he owns the place, swinging that axe with more drama than a raccoon defending its dumpster snacks. The birds scatter when he sneezes. Even the wind dodges his beard.

He's got arms like fallen logs and a beard that squirrels mistake for prime nesting real estate. Smells like pine, coffee, and bad decisions. But I’ll give him credit—he talks to trees before he chops them, like he’s apologizing first. That’s class, I guess?

And don’t get me started on his boots. Stomp louder than a thunderstorm on stilts. Wakes me up every time he visits, yet he claims he's ‘quiet as snow.’ Yeah… snow with attitude.

Still, he’s got a strange charm. Left me a cookie once. Oatmeal raisin. I ate it. Raisins are weird. He’s weirder. But he’s alright by bear standards."

πŸ¦‰✨ Tap tap goes Hooty’s claw on his little brass pocket watch. He clears his throat, fluffs his feathers with the dignity of a professor preparing a lecture, then steadies himself on the lower limb of the ancient oak tree.

Daily Devotion with Hooty the Owl

Scripture Focus: Exodus 15:2 (KJV)

“The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.”

🌳 Hooty’s Reflections (with just a dash of feathered humor):

“Ahem,” Hooty begins, adjusting his monocle even though he doesn’t need it. “Young ones and furry folk of the forest, today’s verse is no ordinary woodland whisper. It's a bold declaration — that our strength is not found in acorns, muscle-bound raccoons, or even Carl's legendary ability to deadlift a log while humming a hymn.”

He flutters his wing toward the sky dramatically.

“It is the Lord who gives us strength. The Lord who fills our hearts with song when the days are dark and the squirrel choir is slightly off-key.”

“Salvation,” Hooty continues, “is not something we earn with leaf collections or pie-baking contests. It is given. And when we recognize that—well, we prepare a place for Him in our hearts. A nest, if you will. Lined with humility, woven with joy.”

Squirrel #3 whispers to Bunny: “Did Hooty just say God moves in with us like a cozy roommate?”
Hooty blinks slowly. “Yes,” he responds. “Except this roommate doesn’t leave dirty dishes in the den.”

He Dwells with Us

From the Bible

✝️ John 3:16

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

Simple meaning: God loves you deeply — so much that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus, to die for your sins. If you believe in Him, you won't face eternal separation from God (perish), but instead you’ll be given everlasting life with Him.

✝️ Ephesians 2:8–9

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves:
it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Simple meaning: You can’t earn your way into heaven with good deeds or behavior. Salvation is a gift — freely given by God’s grace — and received through faith in Jesus Christ. No one can brag about earning it, because it’s not about our efforts.

✝️ Romans 10:9

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.”

Simple meaning: Salvation comes when you say with sincerity that Jesus is Lord and truly believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. This faith activates your rescue — your salvation.

✝️ Romans 10:13

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Simple meaning: Anyone — absolutely anyone — who calls out to Jesus for help, forgiveness, and salvation will be saved by Him. No one is too far gone, and everyone is welcome. Jesus came to save souls from everlasting punishment which is called hell.

πŸ’¬ In a nutshell:
You’re saved not by trying harder, but by trusting Jesus. Believe in Him, confess Him as Lord, and call on His name — and He will save you. It’s simple, sincere faith. That’s the gospel truth

πŸ“– Devotion Thoughts

He then comes into our heart and his song, his Word and is love teaches us and helps us through prayer and bible study.

Reality of Salvation — it’s not just a moment of  being saved, it’s the beginning of a relationship. We become a child of God.

When Jesus enters our heart, He doesn’t come silently. His presence brings light, His Word becomes a song in our soul, and His love gently guides us. Through prayer, He speaks to us. Through the Bible, He teaches us. It’s how He walks with us every day — shaping us, encouraging us, and sometimes gently correcting us.

It’s like going from wandering alone in the dark, to walking hand in hand with the Light Himself. 🌟

Draw a nest filled with the qualities that make a habitation for God — love, joy, patience, praise. Label each twig with a word, and give the nest a name.
